Thérèse Martin entered the Carmelite convent in Lisieux, France, at fifteen and died there of tuberculosis in 1897, at twenty-four. She never left the convent, never founded anything and never wrote a treatise. Yet her autobiography, The Story of a Soul, has been read by millions.
Her Little Way is simple: holiness is not only for the great. It is for anyone willing to trust God like a child and to love Him in small, ordinary things. She was canonized in 1925, named patroness of the missions in 1927, and declared a Doctor of the Church in 1997.
